The toolless quick attach Yakima rack I had on that was really awesome. I really miss the old style track rack on my 3rd gen. I will leave the 4 base L brackets on semi-permanently. It's not toolless, but it's about as easy as it gets otherwise. I can remove the two cross bars in about 2 minutes with an open end wrench and an hex key bit in my cordless impact. I plan to put some end caps on them with tiedown loops.Īnyway this is pretty basic, but there's a few tricks to make it work easy and cheaply. I also like the idea of using 80/20 rail so I can add all sorts of fixtures as necessary, and I used 4 foot wide bars so I can carry plywood on occasion when I don't have a trailer. So it's now 76.5" and the door height is 80". That means with a 3" lift and 34" tires I've added about 4.5 inches net to the vehicle height. But I don't want to carry it around all the time - and frankly I can't either. I've found that the awning on my buddy's Tacoma is pretty darn handy so I bought one. My goal is to not have a roof rack 95% of the time and have a modular system to put only what I need on when I need it. Just thought I'd share what I did for some new cross bars.
